Using the CIG Public Consultation Hub

The CIG Public Consultation Hub (PCH) is a dedicated online platform designed for everyone to express their opinions on new policies and proposed changes by the government. It's your go-to place for staying involved in government decisions that impact you.

Why We Use the PCH

  • Easy to Use: This website makes it simple for the public to access and participate in government decision-making processes.

  • Everyone Can Join In: We can foster community involvement by simplifying how individuals can voice their opinions on matters affecting them.

  • Clear and Open: Providing a complete overview of ongoing consultations promotes transparency in government operations, thereby building trust and accountability.

  • Efficient Data Collection: We are streamlining the process of collecting and analysing public input to ensure that decision-makers have timely access to a wide range of viewpoints.

What the PCH is for

  • Policy Development - Gauge public sentiment and incorporate valuable feedback in drafting bills, policies and strategies.
  • Regulatory Changes - Gather public opinions to ensure that changes meet the community's needs and expectations.
  • Community Initiatives - Measure public interest and support for proposed community projects or initiatives.

How Government Uses Public Consultations

  1. Start a Discussion: Ministries and departments can start a discussion by asking questions about what the public thinks of proposed initiatives, legislation, policies, and projects.

  2. Promote Engagement: Consultation activities are actively promoted the consultation through various channels to maximise participation from diverse community segments.

  3. Monitor Feedback: Teams regularly monitor incoming feedback for insights and trends that can inform adjustments to policy or approach during the consultation phase.

  4. Analyse Results: Post-consultation, teams thoroughly analyse the data gathered to understand public opinion and adjust policies or proposals accordingly.

  5. Report Back: Entities close the feedback loop by reporting back to participants and the broader public on the outcomes of the consultation and how their input has influenced decisions.

Key Timeframes for Public Consultation

  1. Bills Before Parliament: For consultations related to bills that will be discussed in Parliament, ensure at least 28 days of open public consultation. This period may be shortened only under special circumstances that require faster introduction to Parliament.

  2. Initial Public Feedback: For gathering initial public input on proposed policies or initiatives, we recommend a minimum consultation period of 21 days.
