Overview
The Ministry of Health, Environment and Sustainability invites comments on the Litter (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
This consultation seeks the views of stakeholders and the public on the proposed amendments to the Litter Act (1997 Revision). The purpose of this consultation is to provide transparency, encourage engagement, and ensure that the perspectives of stakeholder are considered before the Bill is finalised.
The Litter (Amendment) Bill, 2026 was officially gazetted on Thursday, 5 February 2026, and represents a significant step toward tackling litter, protecting public health, and preserving the natural beauty of the Cayman Islands. The amendments respond to long-standing public concerns and recommendations from the Beautification Task Force (2022).

Why It Matters

The updated framework is intended to create fair, consistent, and effective enforcement mechanisms that reinforce shared responsibility for protecting the Cayman Islands.
